    This bill has not been introduced yet in the 115 th Congress but was introduced in the senate by Bernie Sanders and in the House by Raul Grijalva in 2015.
This bill would bar the federal government from contracting with private entities to provide and/or operate prisons and detention facilities within 2 years. Bar state and local governments from contracting with private entities to provide and/or operate prisons and detention centers within 2 years. Reinstate the federal parole system. Increase oversight to prevent companies from overcharging inmates and their families for services like banking and telephone calls. End the requirement that ICE detain 34,000 immigrants. Require ICE to improve the monitoring of detention facilities. End immigrant family detention.
